At DAZ the feature film “Le Mépris” (The Contempt) by Jean-Luc Godard from 1963 will be shown in French original with German subtitles on January 24th at 7 pm. Through this film with Brigitte Bardot, Michel Piccoli and Fritz Lang, the Casa Malaparte on Capri became known to a very large public. The villa is also the main actor in Peter Welz ‘film installation “Casa Malaparte I curved wall double”, which can be seen in the current DAZ exhibition “mise-en-scène – architectural portraits”.
The filmscreening will be followed by a discussion between the audience, artists Peter Welz, Christopher Roth and Matthias Böttger, Artistic Director DAZ, at the Y-table. We will talk about the film and the portrayal of architectural portraits in the exhibition. Is architecture the backdrop, or does it become a subjective actor and thus a narrative itself? How can architecture be staged?

In the exhibition “mise-en-scène” at the DAZ, which can still be seen until 4 February 2018, three iconic modernist buildings are reinterpreted in video works.
