M8 IN CHINA — German-Chinese Dialogue
05. Februar 2010
German-Chinese Dialogue
05.02.2010, 3.00 pm
DAZ_Taut Saal
China’s cultural and social change during the last three decades resulted one of the most dynamic architectural markets in the world. Since 1994 the establishment of private architectural firms has been permitted in China. Their founders often are young architects who operate internationally and who distinguish themselves by their focus on regional typologies and traditional handicraft techniques. At the same time, western architects and urban planners discover a new booming market which offers unparalleled possibilities.
The symposium M8 IN CHINA investigates from a German as well as from a Chinese point of view the developments in the People’s Republic and their impact on art, architecture and urban development. Based on intercultural dialogue and first-hand reports on practical experiences with Chinese building practice, the perspectives for a German-Chinese exchange of architectural knowledge will be discussed.
