Sturm und Wartzeck, the office of young architects Susanne Wartzeck and Jörg Sturm, present their work under the title "Archetype + Experiment" at GLASHAUS_05. „An extraordinary aesthetic clarity and original, often minimalist but most effective solutions distinguish the works of Sturm and Wartzeck“, explains DAZ director and curator Kristien Ring. Sturm und Wartzeck do not only focus on "classical" architectural projects: Their designs for furniture and accessoires has won numerous awards, e.g. the red dot Design Award. The architects are also engaged in own research projects on experimental building methods in the area of housing.

GLASHAUS_05 opens on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 7 pm with a lecture by the architects (in German only).

The title of the exhibition, „Archetypus + Experiment“, also stands for the working approach of the office. In their architecture and designs, Sturm und Wartzeck do not strive for spectacular show effects. They focus on the essential, question so called standards and develop clear, functional and at the same time sensual designs. Their table "Taurus" exemplarily illustrates this approach: Two beech wooden legs are connected with a steel plate, guaranteeing stability even on uneven grounds. The simple concept did not only convince several design award juries and the furniture label Nils Holger Moormann – even IKEA produced a copy, that had to be taken from the market after the Swedish Goliath had lost in a copyright law suit.

At GLASHAUS_05 six exemplarily projects are presented: from design objects such as a candle holder and a table to experimental housing projects and buildings, such as the awarded house Hasenhof and the extension of the Museum of Contemporary Art Kunststation Kleinsassen.
