Sense of Architecture | Act 1
DAZ_FORUM
08. Dezember 2006 - 07. Januar 2007
Sense of Architecture” is the principal exhibition project of the internationally-oriented “Architektur Laboratorium Steiermark”. The title is programmatic in nature. Accordingly, curator Charlotte Pöchhacker, Director of ARTIMAGE, has designed an exhibition that confronts current architecture in ways that are both intensive and sensual. “Sense of Architecture presents architecture as a sensuous experience, and the exhibition itself is a sensuous experiment,” explains Pöchhacker.
The exhibition is the fruit of a 1 1/2 year long research project carried out by the curator in collaboration with internationally renowned filmmaker Heinz Emigholz. For the exhibition, Emigholz investigated buildings in and from the Steiermark exclusively. In the exhibition, approximately 60 selected projects are cinematically presented, explored and narrated. “Sense of Architecture” is being “staged” in two acts, each featuring various projects and thematic foci. Act I was launched on December 7 with the symposium “Architekturdialog – Kulturen des Wohnens” (architectural dialogue: cultures of habitation) and an official opening. On January 10, there will be a change of scene when a completely new exhibition is presented. The upbeat to Act II is supplied by a second architectural dialogue, this one focusing on the theme of “Art and Architecture”. “Sense of Architecture” is being presented and organised in the framework of the DAZ_Forum series by the Architektur Laboratorium Steiermark.
The Architecture Laboratory Styria is a project by INSTYRIA Kultur – Service GmbH – representing an innovative form of architectural promotion in Austria and abroad.
