Urban Constellations
March 29th 2012 // 7 PM // book presentation and talk at the DAZ-Y-table
Cities are an unprecedented focus of attention: culture and politics are shaped by them, and they are also focal points for new relationships between nature, technology and the human body. “Urban Constellations” (Jovis) brings together a range of cutting-edge international scholarships on cities, urbanization and urban culture, along with featured works by contemporary artists. The contributions explore themes such as new forms of political mobilization, the effects of economic instability, the ecologies of urban nature and the presence of collective memory. The global scope of the publication includes essays on Berlin, Chicago and London, as well as less extensively studied cities such as Chennai, Jakarta and Lagos.
Book presentation and Y-table-talk with editor Matthew Gandy (University College London), Maren Harnack (Professor for Urban Development at UAS Frankfurt/Main), Lucrezia Lennert (Urbanist, Berlin) and Matthias Böttger (raumtaktik, Berlin).
